China turned from a petcoke net exporter to a net importer in 2009, absorbing large quantity of fuel-grade high-sulfur petcoke. In view of the booming import market in China, most people shifted their attention to the Asian market, to its petcoke supplies, delayed coker distribution and characteristics, etc.

2010 Research on Delayed Cokers in Asia takes foothold in China’s fast growing oil refining industry, and sketches distribution of delayed cokers and petcoke production units in Asia, and forecasts the market outlook.

Features:
* Statistics, coking margin and expansion plans of cokers in 70 Chinese refineries

* Homemade petcoke specs distribution and demands in different regions in China

* Delayed coker and petcoke exporting capacity of Taiwan, Indonesia, Malay and India, etc

* Prospect of coker expansion and downstream petcoke demand in Asia

* List of delayed cokers in Asian refineries and statistics of China’s petcoke imports and exports

Content Snapshot:

Coker expansion is rapid in Asian regions. This report divides the Asian market into several parts by region and provides detailed statistics and thorough surveys on delayed cokers in these regions: China, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Central Asia.

C1’s survey found that coker processing capacity in China is approaching 90-mil-mt/yr. Petcoke output (including petcoke for refinery self-consumption) is recorded at about 18-mil-mt/yr and commercial outputs of petcoke are about 12-mil-mt/yr. Petcoke output in Asia takes up 15%-20% of the global total.

China’s primary oil refining capacity will grow by above 10% per year in the coming 3-5 years. Its petcoke production capacity will develop rapidly, but petcoke output growth remains uncertain as yield will be reduced due to higher output ratio of light products with residue pre-hydrogenation technology.
