PetroChina Liaoyang Petchem to expand annual topping capacity to 10-mil mt in Dec

C1 Energy (Shanghai) – Sep 7, 2010 ---PetroChina Liaoyang Petrochemical is expected to expand its preliminary crude processing capacity to 10-mil mt this December, a refinery source told C1.
The refinery would upgrade annual capacity of a crude distillate unit from the current 3.5-mil mt to 4.5-mil mt by then, which has been idled since end 2006, according to the source.
Meantime, it would bring on stream 1-mil-mt/yr hydrocracker, 2-mil-mt/yr hydro-refining unit and 30,000-mt/yr desulfurization unit, the source elaborated.
Liaoyang Petrochemical set crude throughput target for September at 450,000mt, with daily throughput flat with the previous month, the source furthered.
It put 1.4-mil-mt/yr reformer and aromatics complex into production in September, added the source.
Liaoyang Petrochemical, located in Northeast China's Liaoning Province, has a topping capacity of 9-mil mt per year at present. The refinery brought on stream a 5.5-mil-mt/yr CDU in December 2006, mainly eating Russian crude. It is expected to see construction of a 1.4-mil-mt/yr continuous reformer complete in 2010. The refinery is designed to largely produce gasoil and aromatics.
