China has been eyeing on unconventional natural gas, in an effort to meet the strong domestic demand on clean energy. China has over 150 trillion m3 of unconventional natural gas reserves, far more than the 56 trillion m3 of natural gas reserves. Unconventional gas is to be best supplement for natural gas in China.
China sees coal bed methanol (CBM), coking gas-to-LNG, coal-to-gas industries stepping forward at different stages in recent year. CBM has been in commercial utilization, and its production has increased rapidly. Complex utilization of coking gas reported fast progress, with utilization rates rising notably. China witnessed hot investment on coal-to-gas projects in the past several years. The central government released a regulation to restrict the industry development. Development of shale gas is slow despite huge potential. The industry is in prophase technology research and trial exploration.
In this report, C1 Energy analyzes China’s unconventional gas markets, based on broad survey and comprehensive data. The report sketches production capacity, production and distribution of unconventional gas, as well as major players and government regulations.
