Feb 08, 2010 18:18 PM

C1 Energy (Shanghai) -- Feb 8, 2010----LPG demand from vehicles will increase in Guangzhou after Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system starts trial run, C1 forecast.
Over 800 LPG-powered BRT buses will be operational in the capital city of southern Guangdong province on Feb 10, and the quantity will gradually rise to around 3,000 in the future, said an industry source. Of the total, up to 70% will be newly-added units, and the balance 30% are refitted, added the source.
Although exact energy consumption data for a BRT bus were still unavailable, "it will surely lend positive support to LPG end-user demand," the source noted.
Vehicle-used LPG demand in Guangzhou hits 1,000mt per day at present, showed C1's data.
Bus rapid transit refers to public transportation systems that use buses to provide a service that is of a higher speed than an ordinary bus line. Often this is achieved by making improvements to existing infrastructure, vehicles and scheduling.
